In fact Whiskey is not a cocktail drink. However, there are some cocktail recipes made with bourbon, rye whiskey and American blend whiskey, and they can be saviors for hot summer days.

We can see rarely only used malt whiskey cocktails, but it is more appropriate to drink single malt whiskey dry. So we do not share whiskey cocktails made with malt whiskey.

We will mention simple made Lynchburg Lemonade, Mint Julep, Jack and Ginger Lime Jameson. Also, you can find more sophisticated whiskey cocktails like Manhattan, Whiskey Sour and Old Fashioned. But, you may need bitter and some special material.

Lynchburg Lemonade

Whiskey Cocktails - Lynchburg Lemonade

(You can change measure of the indigents but this is basic recipe)

4 oz. Jack Daniel’s
2 oz. Sweet&Sour Mix
2 oz. Cointreau (or you can use another orange liqueur)
Pop

Preparation
Fill the cup with ice and all written ingredients. And fulfill the cup with pop.

Mint Julep

Whiskey Cocktails - Mint Julep

Mint Julep is known as Kentucky Derby. It is bourbon based cocktail.

6 cc Bourbon Whiskey
(Maker’s Mark or Woodford Reserved may be preferred)
4 mint leaf
1 tea spoon castor spoon
2 tea spoons water

Preparation
Water, sugar and mint leaf is lightly crushed. Fill the cup with crushed ice. Add the cup whiskey and mix the mixture. Garnish the cup with the leaf. In Kentucky Silver colored cups are used for serving.

Jack Pomegranate

4 oz. Jack Daniel’s
1 oz. Sweet&Sour Mix
1-2 slice Lime
2 oz. Pomegranate
Pop

Preparation
Crush the Lime in the cup. Fill the cup with ice. Add the cup other written ingredients. Fulfill the cup with pop. Mix lightly the mixture and add lime slices.


Ginger Lime Jameson

Fresh ginger
3 oz. Jameson
1 oz. Sweet&Sour
1 oz. Lemon juice
1-2 slice Lime
Tonic

Preparation
Crush ginger with lime and sweet&sour. Fill the cup with ice. Add Jameson and lemon juice. And fulfill the cup with tonic.

Whiskey Sour

Whiskey Cocktails - Whiskey Sour

Whiskey Sour may seem simple in terms of materials needed for filter and shaker. However, It may be difficult for someone who having no experience preparing cocktails.

6 cc Bourbon
3 cc Lemon Juice
2 cc Sweet Sour
2 cc egg whites
Ice

Preparation
All ingredients except ice should be shaken up to 40 seconds in order to add volume. Then, add ice and shake again. After that, firstly filter by using Hawthorne filter secondly filter by using Fine Strainer. It means we are doing double filtration. Put the mixture into a tumbler and add ice. Cut a lemon and press the lemon into tumbler.

Old Fashioned

Whiskey Cocktails - Old Fashioned

Old Fashioned named in 1800s is one of the oldest whiskey cocktails.

6 cc Rye Whiskey
(You can use Bulletin Bourbon or Woodford Reserve)
1 cube sugar
Ice
Angostura Bitters

Preparation
Crush the sugar, 1 tea spoon water and 3-4 drops bitters in the tumbler. Add whiskey and 1-2 ice cubes and blend. Garnish with orange peel.

Manhattan

Whiskey Cocktails - Manhattan

General idea is that Manhattan was born in Manhattan Club in 1870s. You can find the Old Fashioned whiskey cocktails all around the world.

5 cc Rye Whiskey
2 cc Sweet Red Vermounth
1-2 drop Angostura Bitters
Cocktail Cherry

Preparation
Mix Whiskey, Vermounth, bitter and ice. Put the mixture into cooled cocktail glass and ganish it.
